Introducing Clinker House – a second-floor addition that honors the home’s history while evolving it for modern living. Clinker bricks, known for their unique textures, colors, and irregular shapes, make this house stand out.
These bricks, once considered imperfect, bring warmth, character, and charm to the design in a way that’s impossible to replicate.
Designing this addition has been about finding a balance between respecting the original clinker brickwork and bringing in a fresh, modern aesthetic. My process begins by immersing myself in the home’s story – understanding how it sits on the site, how it interacts with light, and how it feels as you move through each space. I study its forms and materials, ensuring that the addition feels like a natural extension of what’s already there while supporting the needs of contemporary living.
